Vitrification is a technology that is used in IVF to freeze the embryo and egg in cryogenic temperatures (liquid nitrogen) stored in a dewar so that they can be stored for later use. Vitrification straws devices contain the specimen for freezing and are available as an open or closed system vitrification carrier for storage of oocytes, embryos, and blastocysts.
